Ronnie Dunn will release his brand new album, Tattooed Heart, in October, featuring his latest single, “Damn Drunk,” and when he was looking for a producer for the album, it turns out the right candidate was someone he had toured with before. Ronnie explains, “When I initially started considering producers and who to use, Allison Jones over at Big Machine Records suggested using Jay DeMarcus (of Rascal Flatts). And of course I know Jay because we traveled together for years when they were first getting off the ground, and got to know him as a friend and really respect him as a musician and what he does.”
What Ronnie didn’t realize is that in addition to being a talented member of Rascal Flatts, Jay has also become an incredibly talented producer, working on albums for Alabama, Chicago, Michael English and several others. “So,” Ronnie says, “we ran in to do, I think an initial two or three songs and he knocked me out. His ideas were right on point. So I committed to the whole record and he kind of sussed me out and committed to doin’ it and away we went.”
Ronnie Dunn’s Tattooed Heart will be available on October 21st.

Ronnie Dunn – how Jay became producer :43
“When I initially started considering producers and who to use, Allison Jones over at Big Machine Records suggested using Jay DeMarcus. And of course I know Jay because we traveled together for years when they were first getting off the ground, and got to know him as a friend and really respect him as a musician and what he does. I didn’t realize at the time he was such a gifted producer. So we ran in to do, I think an initial two or three songs and he knocked me out. His ideas were right on point. So I committed to the whole record and he kind of sussed me out and committed to doin’ it and away we went.”
