(AUDIO) “SIXTEEN” HELPED SHAPE LIFE CHANGES FOR THOMAS RHETT

Sometimes when Thomas Rhett writes a song, he knows it’s a song he wants to record for one of his albums, but it may not be the album he’s working on at that time.  Case in point is his latest single, “Sixteen,” which is on his Life Changes album.  Thomas says, “‘Sixteen’ was actually one of the first songs I wrote for this project. I wrote it when I was 25. I’m almost 29 now. It’s crazy how songs that are meant to be on a record kind of continue to raise their hand.”

Once Thomas decided that “Sixteen” would be on his current album, he says that’s when the album began to take shape because it was the first song that he really fell in love with. The thing Thomas loves about “Sixteen” is that everybody can relate to it in some way.  He says, “‘Sixteen’ is just one of those songs about growing up, you know, whether you’re 15 or whether you’re 92, I think you can relate to this song in two different ways, whether it’s wanting to rush through life when you’re 15 or really wanting to go back to being 16 when you’re 92.  And I think that everybody can relate to the song in some fashion.”

Thomas is currently working on the follow-up to Life Changes.

“So ‘Sixteen’ was actually one of the first songs I wrote for this project. I wrote it when I was 25. I’m almost 29 now but it’s crazy how songs that are meant to be on a record kind of continue to raise their hand. And I think ‘Sixteen’ was the first one that I wrote that I was like, ‘Okay, now we can start shaping the album,’ if that makes any sense, because it was the first one that I really fell in love with.  ‘Sixteen’ is just one of those songs about growing up, you know, whether you’re 15 or whether you’re 92, I think you can relate to this song in two different ways, whether it’s wanting to rush through life when you’re 15 or really wanting to go back to being 16 when you’re 92.  And I think that everybody can relate to the song in some fashion and I’m very excited for it to be the last single off this project.”
