Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush didn’t know when or if they would start recording music together again as Sugarland, but they knew the possibility was always there. “I don’t think you know, but I think that the intention, whenever you work with somebody or you create with somebody, you know what you have,” says Kristian. “And so, stopping that or picking it back up it has to do with just the will of setting it down or picking it up. It exists no matter what.”
When they decided to take a break to pursue solo interests, there was never a discussion about what would happen with the duo in the future. As Jennifer explains, “If you don’t close a door then you can walk back through it.”
So, Sugarland working together again was simply a matter of choosing to walk back through that open door to create their latest single, “Still the Same,” and their forthcoming album, which will be out later this year.
