Taylor Swift has experimented with a lot of different musical styles on her albums, and a lot of that is inspired by the music she grew up listening to with her parents. “There was so much music in the house and music of all different kinds,” says Taylor. “That’s why melodically, I tend to skip around. Over the course of the same day we’d be playing Shania Twain and we’d be playing Linda Ronstandt then we’d be playing Patsy Cline and then we’d be playing Def Leppard. Those are a lot of different musical corners, which might explain a lot.”
Taylor is currently working on her next album and she recently told AP, “I think the goal for the next album is to continue to change, and never change in the same way twice. How do I write these figurative diary entries in ways that I’ve never written them before and to a sonic backdrop that I’ve never explored before?” This will be Taylor’s fifth studio album and she says, “It’s definitely taking a different turn than anything I’ve done before.”
