When The Band Perry set out to make their latest album, Pioneer, featuring their brand new single, “Chainsaw,” they say there was some fear and doubt. Kimberly Perry says, “In different phases of this journey and making the record, it was our best friend, other times it was our creative arch enemy, but it was always our teacher. And I think the one thing that we really had to learn, when we were just puttin’ one foot in front of the other as we would write a new song, as we were making decisions, was just to bust right through the fear.”
For them it was making a new album, but they say, “Anytime you’re hurdling toward your future and you have no idea what it’s going to look like, whether you’re making music, or graduating, looking for a new relationship, a new job, it’s kind of a scary thing. But the way that we’ve always operated in The Band Perry was with boldness. So we really had to get gut level honest in the very beginning and just say, you know, ‘what are our priorities here?’ And we have to keep doing things and making decisions in the way that we always have, never second-guessing, going with gut.”
The Band Perry has begun working on their third album, which will likely require more boldness and confidence as they march toward their future.
