The Band Perry is in the early stages of working on their third album, the follow-up to Pioneer. With each new album they say they usually have a vision in mind that guides the writing and song selection process. For their debut album it was visions of county fairs. For Pioneer they had visions of marching units and that feeling of forward momentum. As for this new project, Kimberly Perry says, “I can’t even tell you what’s in our heads yet, because we’re still trying to get it all out on paper. But you know, it’s an amazing thing, the creative process. While the first record began with ‘If I Die Young,’ that was the creative catalyst, on Pioneer it was sort of about really working really hard on each song. We re-wrote two and three times.”

One common thread that has started to emerge when The Band Perry is writing or discussing songs for the next album is feeling. Kimberly explains, “On the third album I can say it’s all about feel. ‘How does this feel? This feels good. This is gonna feel good live.’ So it’s already taken a life of its own and it’s gonna have its own personality. We’ll see what it becomes.”

So far there is no timeline for when the new project will be released. They’re currently promoting “Chainsaw,” the latest single off their Pioneer album.
