The Cadillac Three has a brand new single, “White Lightning,” which is actually a song they’ve been playing in some of their live shows for a while, and they say it’s definitely impacted the quality of their forthcoming album. Drummer Neil Mason says, “We hadn’t played any shows when we made the first record, so we went in the studio and we were just kinda playin’ around until somethin’ sounded right, and so, we’re still doing that with this to some degree ‘cause some of these songs are still pretty new. But, a lot of ‘em we’ve had a year to play ‘em out on the road. Songs like ‘White Lightning’ or ‘Party Like You’, or ‘The South’ even, we’ve been playin’ that for a while and it ended up changing a little once we got in the studio.”
Dobro and acoustic player Kelby Ray agrees. He says, “We’re out every weekend, so you only get tighter when you get to play three or four times a week, every week.”
The Cadillac Three’s debut album on Big Machine Records will be released later this year.
