The Cadillac Three say their debut single, “The South,” is about much more than geography. “It kinda speaks to where we’re from and kinda just the pace that people live by where we’re from,” explains Jaren Johnston. “Everything’s a little slower and everything’s just kind of, people take their time and they still do things a little more old-school than say New York City. So, it’s just kind of an ode to where we’re from.”
When they wrote the song they were hoping to create an anthem. “We’ve spent most of our lives drivin’ around in vans in the south and so it’s like, we just felt like we wanted to write a song that could be kind of our generation’s ‘Sweet Home Alabama’,” says Jaren. “Something that was an anthem that kind of spoke about what we know.”
