The Cadillac Three has their own unique brand of country music, which can be heard in their latest single, “White Lightning,” which blends a bit of Southern Rock and old school country, but lead singer Jaren Johnston says the guys in the band listen to and appreciate all kinds of music. Jaren admits, “For me, my guilty pleasure right now is that Ariana Grande record, I think it’s great. She’s a killer singer. I love Sam Hunt’s new record. I think the writing’s really smart, and I love Taylor (Swift’s) new record.”
Jaren says for him it’s less about the genre and more about the quality of the music. “I’m a fan of people who put together songs in a neat way, and I’m also a fan of extraordinary singers.”
One album Jaren absolutely can’t get enough of is Chris Stapleton’s new one, Traveller. Jaren says, “He does something that only one or two people in the world can do, and Otis Redding, and all those guys aren’t around anymore, so I think he’s kinda carrying on that torch in the Country, or just real music, genre. You can’t really put that in a certain genre.”
The Cadillac Three will be playing the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage this Thursday at the CMA Music Festival, then they will hop on a plane and head to the UK for the Download Festival on Friday, the 12th.
