(AUDIO) THE CADILLAC THREE SEES SEVERAL BENEFITS TO STRETCHING THEIR MUSICAL BOUNDARIES

When you listen to The Cadillac Three’s brand new album, Legacy, you can hear that they branched out on this project and went beyond what fans might typically expect from them, in terms of song styles.  Because they are growing as a band and they write their own material, they’ve had to think a little more carefully about which songs to give away.  Whereas before they might easily be able to say a song wasn’t a Cadillac Three song, now they can’t always be so quick to rule anything out.  Jaren Johnston says, “It’s neat for us because you get to jump into different territories, you know and that’s always fun when you’re making records together.”

And as Neil Mason points out, if they’re not sure if a song they write is right for the band, “The worst thing that happens is you cut it and it doesn’t work and then you can go pitch it again.”

And if they attempt to record it as a band and decide it doesn’t work, Jaren looks at the positive side, which is, “You have a really good demo.”

The Cadillac Three’s new album, Legacy, was just released on Friday, featuring their latest single, “Dang If We Didn’t.”
