Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three had a chance to work with music legend Steven Tyler on Steven’s solo country album a few years ago, and recently Steven joined TC3 on stage to sing with them. So what would 15-year-old Jaren think about the idea that he would one day get to work with and befriend Steven Tyler? TC3 steel player, Kelby Ray jokes, “You’d think you were lying to yourself.”
Jaren agrees, but at the same time he says, “I have big ass dreams. That’s the only reason I still do this stuff, because there’s a couple that I haven’t checked off the list yet. So I think the Steven Tyler thing is pretty out there, ‘cause [when I was 15] that was right around when Armageddon was out and ‘Livin’ on the Edge’ and all that stuff… ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing,’ all that stuff, so it’s pretty wild that we’ve been hanging out.”
And while his friendship with Steven is all a manifestation of Jaren’s big dreams, he’s not gonna deny that it’s still pretty damn cool. For instance, he says, “We FaceTimed the other night. It was pretty crazy talking to Steven Tyler on the damn phone.”
When Jaren’s not busy rubbing elbows with Steven Tyler, he’s working hard on The Cadillac Three’s next album with his bandmates, Kelby and Neil, and promoting their current single, “Crackin’ Cold Ones with the Boys.”
