(AUDIO) The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston Inspired By Childhood Memories When Writing “White Lightning”

Jaren Johnston of The Cadillac Three wrote their latest single, “White Lightning” by himself. It was a song for his “special lady friend,” trying to express love at first sight and the speed at which he fell for her. He explains, “I tried to come up with cool angles to say it without saying it. Things that I was really infatuated with when I was a kid like; ‘The Dukes of Hazard’ TV show, ‘she stole my heart faster than the Duke boys jumpin’ that hillside; faster than Elvis could shake, rattle or roll; faster than number three breakin’ every record, which was Dale Earnhardt, that was a big thing when I was a kid.’”

Jaren says all of those metaphors represented his take on love at first sight, and collectively they came out as the song, “White Lightning.”

The Cadillac Three – writing White Lightning :33
Jaren Johnston – “Our new single is called ‘White Lightning’. It’s a song I wrote about my special lady friend. Basically just my take on love at first sight and I tried to come up with cool angles to say it without saying it. Things that I was really infatuated with when I was a kid like; ‘The Dukes of Hazard’ TV show, she stole my heart faster than the Duke boys jumpin’ that hillside; faster than Elvis could shake, rattle or roll; faster than number three breakin’ every record, which was Dale Earnhardt, that was a big thing when I was a kid. So, basically that’s just kinda my take on love at first sight and it came out as ‘White Lightning’.”
