Jaren Johnston, the lead singer of The Cadillac Three, has known his wife since they were kids. So when he sat down one evening with “a pretty solid bottle of wine” and started writing the band’s latest single, “White Lightning,” he called upon some references from his childhood to explain just how quickly she stole his heart. Jaren says, “I wanted to go faster than this faster than that, faster than this faster than that, and kinda tell a story about it, and so I did things that I kinda loved when I was a kid like, faster than the Duke boys jumpin’ that hill side, ‘cause I was in love with ‘Dukes of Hazard’. Faster than Elvis’ shakin’, rattle and roll, faster than the skirt flyin’ up on Monroe.”
“White Lightning” will be featured on The Cadillac Three’s debut album on Big Machine, which they are currently working on for release either later this year or early 2016.

The Cadillac Three – writing “White Lightning” :37
Jaren Johnston – “Yeah, basically I just sit down and I drink like a pretty solid bottle a wine and went into the back room, and my wife was in the other room, we’ve been together for like thirteen years, since we were kids, and so I just kinda sat down and wrote, and I started out, ‘She stole my heart’, and I wanted to go faster than this faster than that, faster than this faster than that, and kinda tell a story about it, and so I did things that I kinda loved when I was a kid like, faster than the Duke boys jumpin’ that hill side, ‘cause I was in love with ‘Dukes of Hazard’. Faster than Elvis’ shakin’, rattle and roll, faster than the skirt flyin’ up on Monroe. So, basically it’s just stuff like that, like ooh I saw white lightnin’. So, that’s kinda the gist of it.”
