Jaren, Kelby and Neil of The Cadillac Three are all great songwriters, and Jaren admits that inspiration for a song can strike him anywhere at any time and often does. He says, “I’m always wakin’ up and writin’ somethin’ in my phone or somethin’ and sometimes on the bus I’ll just get up in the middle of the night, crack a beer and get back in the studio and get to work. That’s a creative outlet for us, it’s a lot a fun too.”

Kelby agrees and says they don’t mind the mental interruptions because they try to write as much as possible, so they welcome ideas all the time.

Jaren Johnston wrote The Cadillac Three’s latest single, “White Lightning,” and he confesses it was the result of a little too much wine and just trying to write an honest song about his wife, not really intending to write a hit song.
