(AUDIO) THE ELI YOUNG BAND DOESN’T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME STARING AT THEIR BUCKET LIST

The Eli Young Band released their first album in 2002, and while they’ve accomplished a lot in their career, they still have some things left on their bucket list, like performing at Madison Square Garden.  But Mike Eli says the band tries to not spend too much time focusing on their big, long-term goals.  “It’s tough because we’ve always had the outlook on our life and our career as being thankful and trying not to think too far ahead,” says Mike.  “Just try to be in the moment, and that’s come to serve us really well.”

The reason the guys in EYB try not to get too wrapped up in the future is because Mike says, “I think that there are times when you can let that completely overtake your work ethic. If all you’re thinking about is the big bucket list things then sometimes you can get bogged down in, ‘Well why isn’t this happening faster’ you know?  I mean if we were on a timeline I don’t know if we would’ve ever made it. We’re going on almost 20 years of being a band and if we would have thought that it was going to take this long to get where we were, I don’t know, would we have made the same decisions? Who knows.”

Staying mostly in the present is working well for EYB.  Their latest song, “Love Ain’t,” is in the top 30 and steadily climbing the charts, and they’ve already got the first half of the year filled with concert dates, which you can see on EliYoungBand.com.

Mike Eli – “A lot of things I mean we played almost every venue in the country except for Madison Square Garden. So we look forward to that one day. It’s tough because we’ve always had the outlook on our life and our career as being thankful and trying not to think too far ahead. Just try to be in the moment, and that’s come to serve us really well. I think that there are times when you can let that completely overtake your work ethic.
