The Mavericks new studio album, MONO, is being released this Tuesday and Raul Malo says, “I think we picked up where we left off on the last album, so some of it will make sense, some of it won’t. But, you know, some of it may leave some fans scratching their heads, but that’s OK. I really think that this album kind of is a continuation of the last one.”
The band is also proud of the fact that the album is as true of a representation of them live as they could possibly have. According to Raul, “There’s very little over-dubs on this, and I think everybody knows by now that it was mixed in mono, which means your surround speakers are useless, so that’s cool.”
Besides picking up where they left off on their last album Raul promises a few surprises, and he laughs and says, “I kind of like to tell people not to expect anything, that way when they kinda like it they’re half-way surprised.”
MONO will be released on the 17th and The Mavericks will launch their MONO Mundo World Tour on February 19th.

The Mavericks – expect from next album :45
“I think we picked up where we left off on the last album, so some of it will make sense, some of it won’t. But, you know, some of it may leave some fans scratching their heads, but that’s OK. I really think that this album kind of is a continuation of the last one, and it’s about as good of a representation of us live as we could possibly have. There’s very little over-dubs on this, and I think everybody knows by now that it was mixed in mono, which means your surround speakers are useless, so that’s cool. But I think mainly that’s it. I think we really pick up where we left off, and maybe throw in a few surprises. I kind of like to tell people not to expect anything, that way when they kinda like it they’re half-way surprised.”
