CURRENT SINGLE: “Like A Lady”
When touring came to a halt in 2020 because of the pandemic, it gave a lot of artists time to think about their touring schedules, their business as an artist and how that all impacts their family life. Lady A says they definitely thought about their tours and wanting to be more intentional with their schedules. “Kids kinda have forced that, even over the past few years for us,” says Charles Kelley. “And you know, our kids are going to be, at some point here, all in school more and they won’t be able to come out as much as they used to. So, naturally we’re gonna have to be more intentional about our dates and how we do it.”
Before Lady A got back on the road with their What A Song Can Do Tour, they realized they might have to be more economically intentional and make some different financial decisions when it comes to touring. They were willing to do whatever it took to make sure they could cover all the expenses and pay everyone, even if they had to play smaller venues or sell fewer tickets due to Covid, or God forbid, cancel more shows. Charles admits, “We’ve even talked about if three of us gotta get back into a bus again and we can make that actually turn into something really fun, you know, where you kinda turn a negative into a positive.”
Fortunately, Lady A didn’t have to resort to any major cost-cutting measures to get back on tour, but at least now they know they could and they would if that’s what it took to be able to play more live shows.
