(AUDIO) THOMAS RHETT EXCITED TO BE RETURNING TO AFRICA WITH WIFE LAUREN

Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren recently traveled to Africa on a missions trip for 147 Million, an organization that provides food, shelter and medicine to orphans in need around the globe, in the name of Jesus.  Lauren is a registered nurse and she has been making the trips to Africa without Thomas for a while, but this was the first time he got to witness the experience for himself.  “We were on the ground for just four days and I finally got to see my wife in action,” says Thomas.  “I always get to see her plan these events and talk about the kids that she’s seen over in Africa, but to actually be there with her and watch these kids like fall all over her and be like, ‘Lauren, Lauren, Lauren,’ like they remember her from last time she went. It was like one of the most amazing times I’ve ever actually seen my wife doing something.”

Thomas used his skills too to help bring some joy to the kids they met in Africa.  “Just to be over there and just teaching kids how to play the guitar and loving on them was an amazing experience and I love that our fans want to know how to get more involved. It’s just been an amazing year and I’m glad we kind of got to go do that with a little off time that we have.”

Thomas is currently in Europe on tour through this week, but afterward he revealed that he and Lauren are heading back to Africa as sort of a couple’s celebratory trip for the huge success of his song, “Die A Happy Man,” which was inspired by Lauren and was just named the Single of the Year at the CMA Awards and the Song of the Year at the BMI Songwriters Awards.
