If you’ve seen the video for Thomas Rhett’s latest #1 song, “Star of the Show,” then you know it’s a cool continuous shot of Thomas walking through a whole series of scenes, in what looks like an interstate underpass or tunnel. But what you might not know is that the entire video is one long continuous shot, with no breaks. Thomas explains, “It took forever. We were shooting that video until about four o’clock in the morning because it was a, basically it was a one take video. So every time you messed up it’s not like you could just restart that scene, it was you had to restart the entire video. So getting all those moving parts and all those dancers and throwing the paint and throwing all that kind of stuff at the right time took a long time to get right.”
While the process was exhausting and lengthy, Thomas says, “I just wanted to do something different for that song and I had to beg Lauren to be in it, the little time that she was in it, but I think she made it great. And it was a really fun video to make and I’ve always wanted to do a whole bunch of like really cool CGI stuff that blew my mind, and that did it for me so it was a lot of fun.”
