CURRENT SINGLE: “Be A Light” – #1
When the coronavirus pandemic first hit and Thomas Rhett had to cancel his 2020 summer tour, he was lost and restless. “I would say the first 30, 40 days into quarantine I was kinda losing my mind, going, ‘I need to play a show. I need to write a song. I need to do something.’”
He has written a ton of songs over the last few months (over 50), but it was his wife who got him to focus on what was happening as opposed to what wasn’t. “One day my wife looked at me and she said, ‘Honey, you’re not gonna play a show this year. You just need to let it be and relax and be with our family.”
Since that day, Thomas says being at home with his family for such an extended period of time “(has) been really amazing, to get to spend this much quality time with my kids, and this is the most nights in a row I’ve ever gotten to put ‘em to bed and wake up with ‘em. And it’s been absolutely amazing just to get to watch them grow up. So, as crazy and weird as this year has been, that is definitely a silver lining, just gettin’ to watch my kids grow and gettin’ to really be intentional with my wife.”
Not being able to tour this year because of the pandemic has also allowed Thomas and his family to take some really amazing trips, like the two weeks they just spent out west in Montana, hiking glaciers and mountains, fly fishing, and making memories as a family that will last a lifetime.
Thomas Rhett – family time :35
“Honestly, it’s just been such a blessing in disguise, this whole year. I would say the first 30, 40 days into quarantine I was kinda losing my mind, going, ‘I need to play a show.
