Just like in his songwriting, Thomas Rhett is fairly transparent with his emotions in real life, a trait which he credits to his mom. “I wear my emotions all over my sleeve,” says Thomas. “I mean, if I’m mad, you’re gonna know it. If I’m happy, you’re gonna know it. If I have a problem with you, you’re gonna know it. That’s how my Mom has always been and that’s a trait that I wish I did not have. I wish I had more of a poker face about life.”
Although Thomas wishes he was much less transparent, he is grateful for all the wonderful qualities his mom has that he hopes have rubbed off on him. He says, “My Mom is a saint, I wish I had more of her ‘saintness’ characteristic. She would never hurt a fly and she raised me right and I love my Mom. She’s been a really great influence in my life.”
These days, as the lyrics of Thomas’ latest single, “Life Changes,” mentions, he’s raising his own kids, and he hopes to be able to pass on some of those same qualities he got from his mom to his own kids.

“I wear my emotions all over my sleeve. I mean, if I’m mad, you’re gonna know it. If I’m happy, you’re gonna know it. If I have a problem with you, you’re gonna know it. That’s how my Mom has always been and that’s a trait that I wish I did not have. I wish I had more of a poker face about life. But my Mom is a saint, I wish I had more of her ‘saintness’ characteristic. She would never hurt a fly and she raised me right and I love my Mom. She’s been a really great influence in my life.”
