(AUDIO) THOMAS RHETT HOPES HIS LATEST SONG CAN BE A LIGHT FOR THE WORLD

It’s been about two months since most of the United States went on lockdown and was forced to stay home because of the coronavirus.  Just a couple of weeks before that happened, parts of Nashville were devastated by two tornadoes, which felt like a one-two punch emotionally and economically for the city.  In the midst of watching everything unfold, not only in Nashville, but across the country and witnessing a lot of the anger and divisiveness that was permeating part of society, Thomas was reminded of a song he had written last year called “Be A Light.”

According to Thomas, “I’ve been wanting to release ‘Be A Light’ since the day that I wrote it. And when all this stuff happened, I mean from the tornadoes in Nashville, now to the Covid-19/coronavirus, I feel like now there is no better time to release a song like ‘Be A Light.’  I just feel like the world was in darkness for a minute, and so I think a song like this can be really encouraging for people.”

As if the song wasn’t powerful enough, Thomas got the idea to invite some of his famous friends to sing on the song with him, including Reba, Keith Urban, contemporary Christian singer Chris Tomlin and Hilary Scott from Lady Antebellum, and he says, “When they jumped on the song, man, it just took it to a whole different level, and I am so proud of this song and really hope that this song can be an encouragement to people who are really going through kind of a tough time right now.”

Thomas Rhett just celebrated “Beer Can’t Fix,” his collaboration with Jon Pardi, reaching the top of the charts last week, and “Be A Light,” which was climbing the charts simultaneously, is already in the top 25.

Thomas Rhett – why Be A Light now  :37

“I’ve been wanting to release ‘Be A Light’ since the day that I wrote it. And when all this stuff happened, I mean from the tornadoes in Nashville, now to the Covid-19/coronavirus, I feel like now there is no better time to release a song like ‘Be A Light.’  I just feel like the world was in darkness for a minute, and so I think a song like this can be really encouraging for people. And then when I had asked some of my buddies to get on the song, it was an immediate yes, which was so cool – Reba, Keith Urban, Chris Tomlin and Hilary Scott from Lady Antebellum.  And when they jumped on the song, man, it just took it to a whole different level and I am so proud of this song and really hope that this song can be an encouragement to people who are really going through kind of a tough time right now.”
