Thomas Rhett recently released a new soulful collaboration with Teddy Swims of his song “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman,” off his recent About A Woman album, which they will be performing on this Wednesday night’s CMA Awards on ABC. Their performance will be a mash-up of their new version of “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman” and Teddy’s #1 song, “Lose Control,” and Thomas explains why Teddy absolutely belongs on the CMA Awards, and why he can’t wait for their performance.

“It’s gonna be amazing. You know, Teddy grew up, honestly, a lot like Post Malone, who listened to country music his whole life, but maybe chose a different lane. Teddy knows as many country songs as there is out there. That dude honestly lives and breathes country music. And so, I think it’s been a dream of his for a while to play on the CMAs and maybe make a country EP or something like that, and the dude can do it. It’s kinda like how everybody says Chris Stapleton can sing the phone book and I’d buy it. Teddy is the same way to me. And so, I was honestly thrilled and shocked that the CMAs were like, ‘Okay we’re gonna let you play a song that no one knows on the biggest night in country music.’ And so, I feel very grateful to do that and very blessed, and now it’s up to me and him to go knock it out of the park.”
