Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren have family spread out all over the southeast, so they used to spend Thanksgiving traveling to see everyone, which proved to be exhausting, so now he says, “We’ve kind of put our South Georgia family on a every other year kind of thing. It’s just really hard to get down there, especially when you’re touring all year.”
So now that they’re spending some Thanksgivings at home, Thomas says, “This past year was the first year that I was responsible for the turkey. So I smoked a turkey for about 12 hours and I think that I’m going to become the turkey man, I guess, around every Thanksgiving. But yeah we’ll see.”
Thomas, aka the turkey man, has a lot to be thankful for, including his monster hit, “Die A Happy Man,” which spent six weeks at #1, was named the CMA Single of the Year and the BMI Country Song of the Year. It’s available on his recently released Tangled Up Deluxe album, which also features his latest single “Star of the Show.”

Thomas Rhett – Thanksgiving 2016 :19
“You know we’ve kind of put our South Georgia family on a every other year kind of thing. It’s just really hard to get down there, especially when you’re touring all year. But as far as traditions, this past year was the first year that I was responsible for the turkey. So I smoked a turkey for about 12 hours and I think that I’m going to become the turkey man, I guess, around every Thanksgiving. But yeah we’ll see.”
