Thomas Rhett just celebrated his latest #1 single, “Marry Me,” which was the follow-up to his #1 song, “Unforgettable,” and it turns out he and his co-writers wrote both songs in the same day. When they wrote both songs he didn’t necessarily know they would be big hits for him, but he knew they were special. Thomas says, “Those are ones where like, Jesse (Frasure) wasn’t even done compin’ the vocal or even getting the demo done and we were all begging him to email it to us so that I could go play it in the vibe room before a concert, and playing it for anybody that walked on the bus like, ‘You want to hear a new song?’”
Thomas was so excited about both songs, which ended up on his Life Changes album, because he says they were “really just two kind of things I’d never really done before melodically and content-wise. And so just looking back, it’s pretty nuts that we wrote those in the same day.”
Although Thomas has already been writing songs for his next album, he will release another song off of Life Changes as his next single, in April. Also in April, Thomas will head to Las Vegas with four ACM Awards nominations for Male Vocalist, Album, Video for “Marry Me” and Collaboration for “Craving You” with Maren Morris. He actually has a chance to win six trophies, since he would be awarded as the artist and the producer if he wins Album or Collaboration.
