(AUDIO) THOMAS RHETT’S KIDS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS AND MAKE HIM LAUGH EVERY DAY

CURRENT SINGLE: “Slow Down Summer”

Thomas Rhett’s daughters are six, four and a half, two and five months old, and he’s learning very quickly that they hear things every day and are soaking things in like a sponge.  When it comes to saying things that boggle his mind, Thomas says it happens, “Every day. And sometimes I think, God, did I say that? You know, and I’m like, ‘Where’d you learn that?’ They’re like, ‘Some kid at school.’”

One example of Thomas’ four-and-a-half year old saying something out of left field happened recently.  He says, “I remember Ada came in the kitchen the other day and I was cutting a vegetable or something, and she was like, ‘Daddy, you know the consequences of that.’ And I was like, what?! Oh, because I have a knife in my hand and I’m cutting something, and I probably along the way said, you’ll get hurt if you XYZ, or you’ll get burned if you touch XYZ. And so, it’s amazing how sometimes they shift from kid to parent so fast.”

Even Thomas’ two-year-old daughter, Lennon, is making him realize how kids pick up on everything.  “Lillie [the five-month-old] can’t do anything. And when she’s crying, Lennon, who can barely even talk is like, ‘She’s probably hungry. She’s probably hungry.’ It’s just amazing how quick your kids just pick up on what you do and what you say and how you act in certain situations,” which Thomas has learned isn’t always a good thing.

“If I get frustrated in traffic, they’ll get home and tell Lauren, they’ll just be like, ‘Yeah, daddy lost it in the car today,’” Thomas says with a laugh.  “And I’ll be like, ‘No, I just was frustrated that we were stuck in traffic.’ But they relate it to something else.  They really are so funny and they make me laugh so hard every day. The cutest kids in the world.”

We agree, Thomas.  We totally agree.

“Every day. And sometimes I think, God, did I say that? You know, and I’m like, ‘Where’d you learn that?’ They’re like, ‘Some kid at school.’ And then you wonder where they learned that, and maybe it’s from their parents. But I remember Ada came in the kitchen the other day and I was cutting like a vegetable or something, and she was like, ‘Daddy, you know the consequences of that.’ And I was like, what?! Oh, because I have a knife in my hand and I’m cutting something, and I probably along the way said, you’ll get hurt if you XYZ, or you’ll get burned if you touch XYZ. And so, it’s amazing how sometimes they shift from kid to parent so fast. And now all of them are obviously older than Lillie and, you know, Lillie can’t do anything. And when she’s crying, Lennon, who can barely even talk is like, ‘She’s probably hungry. She’s probably hungry.’ It’s just amazing how quick your kids just pick up on what you do and what you say and how you act in certain situations. You know, if I get frustrated in traffic, they’ll get home and tell Lauren, they’ll just be like, ‘Yeah, daddy lost it in the car today.’ And I’ll be like, ‘No, I just was frustrated that we were stuck in traffic.’ But they relate it to something else.  They really are so funny and they make me laugh so hard every day.
