(AUDIO) TIM McGRAW CONSIDERS HIMSELF LUCKY TO BE ON THE CMA AWARDS BALLOT

Tim McGraw is nominated for three CMA Awards – Male Vocalist plus Single and Video of the Year for “Humble and Kind” (plus the writer of “Humble and Kind” is nominated for Song of the Year), and considering he won his first CMA Award back in 1997, when he thinks about still being competitive and on the ballot 19 years later, Tim says, “Lucky is my first thought. I always think about the support that I have with the people around me. First and foremost, my wife and my family. The support that they give me and allowing me to do the things that I do in order to have a career that lasts that long.”

Both Tim and Faith Hill grew up watching the CMA Awards every single year, and Tim says, “It’s hard to believe being from Louisiana and Mississippi, that the CMAs coming on every year wasn’t just a ritual for everybody in the whole world to get ready to watch the CMAs.”

For them and their families, the CMA Awards were a huge annual event that they looked forward to and gathered together to watch and Tim says, “So it’s always, for us, been unfathomable that everybody in the whole world doesn’t feel the same way about it. And to watch country music grow and how it has become a world-wide event for everybody to sit around and watch, because of just how transcendent country music has become, and I’m proud to be a part of that.”

Tim and Faith were both part of “Forever Country,” the ensemble song that was recorded to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards, and they will both be at the awards this Wednesday night, and Tim will be performing. The 50th Annual CMA Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville this Wednesday on ABC.

Faith- “Yeah, that’s right.”

Tim- “Country music and what we grew up listening to and the people we grew up around. It was a big deal to watch the CMAs growing up. So it’s always, for us, been unfathomable that everybody in the whole world doesn’t feel the same way about it. And to watch country music grow and how it has become…“

Faith- “A world-wide event.”
