Tim McGraw is nominated for the ACM Vocal Event of the Year Award for “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s,” with Faith Hill, and he says award nominations are something he never takes for granted because of the fact that he has been around as long as he has. “When you’ve been around as long as I have everybody just assumes you’re there and so sometimes assumptions can take away from the actuality of things,” explains Tim. “Everybody can assume that you’re gonna be at the awards show, and can assume that you’re gonna be nominated and therefore they don’t vote for you because they automatically assume that you’ll be nominated anyway.”
Tim is grateful every time he is nominated but he says, “At the end of the day you just wanna make good music, and I wanna continue to make good music and I wanna continue to make music’s that relevant and means somethin’,” like his latest single, “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools.”
The 50th ACM Awards will be broadcast live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on April 19th on CBS.

Tim McGraw – ACM nomination :37
“Nominations, you never take those for granted, I think, ‘cause when you’ve been around as long as I have everybody just assumes you’re there and so sometimes assumptions can take away from the actuality of things. Everybody can assume that you’re gonna be at the awards show, and can assume that you’re gonna be nominated and therefore they don’t vote for you because they automatically assume that you’ll be nominated anyway. That being said, awards are awards. They’re great to be honored that way, you’re great to be nominated, great to be a part of the process and a part of all the artists that are comin’ and goin’, but at the end of the day you just wanna make good music, and I wanna continue to make good music and I wanna continue to make music’s that relevant and means somethin’.”
