(AUDIO) AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD WINNER TIM McGRAW ENJOYS THANKSGIVING IN THE KITCHEN WITH HIS FAMILY

***CONGRATULATIONS TO TIM McGRAW ON HIS AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD WIN FOR FAVORITE COUNTRY SONG FOR “HUMBLE AND KIND”***

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are both pretty good cooks, and they actually love cooking together.  According to Faith, “It happens every night.”  Tim says the whole family spends time together in the kitchen especially around Thanksgiving.  “All the kids get involved and cook something and have fun doing something. The kitchen is just packed.  You know, every holiday the kitchen no matter how, where the Christmas tree is, where the fireplaces are going, where the punch is set up, or anything, everybody migrates to the kitchen.”

While some people hate having people in the kitchen while they’re trying to cook, Tim and Faith love it.  He says, “That’s where all the conversation’s going on, the action’s going on, the food’s cooking.  It’s a special time, and yeah, Faith cooks just a fantastic Thanksgiving meal.  That’s one of my favorite meals all year round.”

Faith credits her mom, Edna Perry, with teaching her how to cook a traditional southern Thanksgiving meal, and now her daughters are learning to get in on the act.  Faith says, “Last year for the first time, because the girls get into the holiday season because of the smell of the food and just the smell of the season, I remember we agreed that we’re going to start the tradition of everyone has a designated entree that they make.”

So now, Thanksgiving is a true family affair in the McGraw/Hill household, and they will certainly be counting their blessings, including the wonderful success of Tim’s American Music Award Favorite Country Song and CMA Song of the Year, “Humble and Kind,” and the fact that his latest single, “How I’ll Always Be,” is his latest top ten hit.

Tim McGraw (and Faith Hill) – Thanksgiving  1:46

Tim – “It does …”

Faith – “It happens every night.  Yeah.”

Tim – “Every night but Thanksgiving for sure.  Gosh, all the kids get involved and cook something and have fun doing something. The kitchen is just packed.  You know, every holiday the kitchen no matter how, where the Christmas tree is, where the fireplaces are going, where the punch is set up, or anything, everybody migrates to the kitchen.”

Faith – “You might as well just set everything up in the kitchen.”

Tim – “Because nobody leaves the kitchen (Right!).  That’s where all the conversation’s going on, the action’s going on, the food’s cooking.  It’s a special time, and yeah, Faith cooks just a fantastic Thanksgiving meal.  That’s one of my favorite meals all year round.”

Faith – “I learned that from Edna Perry, my mom, who taught me how to cook the real Southern Thanksgiving meal with the cornbread dressing and all the fixings and yeah, it’s a family affair. Last year for the first time, because the girls get into the holiday season because of the smell of the food and just the smell of the season. I remember we agreed that we’re going to start the tradition of everyone has a designated entree that they make. So Maggie’s was rolls, Parker House rolls, she made it from scratch. Gracie was dessert because she’s really, really great.”

Tim – “She’s a good baker.”

Faith – “She’s a great baker.  And Audrey, what did Audrey do?”

Tim – “I don’t remember.”

Faith – “She helped, I think, with the cranberry, made a homemade cranberry sauce and she made something else. Everyone’s starting to get their, ‘this is my responsibility,’ which was good. They’re old enough to do that.”

Tim – “And we have the same things, you know the traditions, like we certainly have the turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving which …”

Faith – “You’re making me really hungry right now.”

Tim – “Which is really good.  And a big ham.  And then you eat sandwiches for like three or four days afterward. And then …”

Faith – “That’s the best part.”
