(AUDIO) TIM McGRAW EXPLAINS WHY HE HESITATED TO RECORD “7500 OBO”

CURRENT SINGLE – “7500 OBO”

Tim McGraw sounds great on his latest single “7500 OBO,” but he admits, “That was one that I loved the song right off the bat but I questioned a little bit, just because I didn’t know if it was sort of in my wheelhouse to do that sort of melody and sing that sort of song.”

But throughout his 30 year career, Tim has always felt comfortable stretching himself and exploring new sounds because he says, “I think that when I sing, you’re gonna know it’s me and it’s gonna be me from Start, Louisiana, singin’. It makes me comfortable in grabbing songs that may be out of sort of my vocal sound, I guess in a lot of ways.”

Someone once told Tim he was so country he couldn’t go pop with a butt full of firecrackers, and that’s why he says, “I feel like I can stretch myself and do those songs and my vocal brings it back to the center sound-wise because I just sing the way I sing.”

But I guess throughout my entire career I’ve always tried to stretch myself vocally and melody-wise and sonic-wise, and different styles of music. I think that when I sing, you’re gonna know it’s me and it’s gonna be me from Start, Louisiana singin’. It makes me comfortable in grabbing songs that may be out of sort of my vocal sound, I guess in a lot of ways.
