Tim McGraw’s new album, Damn Country Music, will be released on Friday, November 6th, and Tim hopes fans will take the time to listen to the entire album from top to bottom. “I would say just turn it up and listen to it all the way through.” Tim says, “If I’m gonna listen to an album, especially when I get a new piece of music, I wanna listen to it from the beginning to the end, all the way through. I usually do it a couple of times. And, kick back, roll your windows down, go out for a ride and turn it up. That’s the way I would listen to it.”
Fans will have a few choices when it comes to the album, between the regular edition, a deluxe edition and a vinyl edition. Tim says, “Most the time I put a lot of songs on a record and if I had my way I probably would just do twenty songs on an album and not do any sort of deluxe or anything else. But, it’s just a matter of findin’ that slicing point in a record where you can put some songs that really bring something extra to the table that people that wanna buy it and have a little bit different sound than the rest of the album, and I that that’s what this does.”
He’s also excited to offer a vinyl edition of Damn Country Music. Tim says, “I love hearin’ things on vinyl. There’s just such a warmth and soul to it. Plus, there’s so much thought and consideration that goes into the art of an album, and to me, that’s one of my favorite things about it. So, to have it not the size of a postage stamp, so you can actually see the art of it is pretty cool to me.”
Tim’s likes that without knowing what the song is about, the title of Damn Country Music can be interpreted in different ways. He says, “One of the reasons why I wanted to name the album ‘Damn Country Music’, without a point of reference, ‘cause it does mean so many things and you can interpret so many ways, and I think that makes it interesting and it makes people wanna hear it.”

Tim McGraw – meaning of Damn Country Music :36
“One of the reasons why I wanted to name the album ‘Damn Country Music’, without a point of reference, ‘cause it does mean so many things and you can interpret so many ways, and I think that makes it interesting and it makes people wanna hear it, but the song itself, to me, means sort of commitin’ yourself to something and being inspired by something and dedicatin’ your soul to something, as music has for everybody whose involved in it. But it’s not only what you dedicate to it and what it does to you and what it takes away from you, it’s what you get back from it and what it gives you back, and how it makes you feel, and how it inspires you and moves you, and sometimes it’s a fistfight with it and sometimes it’s a dance.”

Tim McGraw – message about new album :21
“I would say just turn it up and listen to it all the way through. I think it’s, for me, that’s as an artist, and as a listener, when I like to listen to record. If I’m gonna listen to an album, especially when I get a new piece of music, I wanna listen to it from the beginning to the end, all the way through. I usually do it a couple of times. And, kick back, roll your windows down, go out for a ride and turn it up. That’s the way I would listen to it.”

Tim McGraw – deluxe and vinyl edition :57
“I think there is gonna be a vinyl edition of ‘Damn Country Music’, which I’m excited about. I love hearin’ things on vinyl. There’s just such a warmth and soul to it. Plus, there’s so much thought and consideration that goes into the art of an album, and to me, that’s one of my favorite things about it. So, to have it not the size of a postage stamp, so you can actually see the art of it is pretty cool to me, and I love it when it comes out on vinyl. As far as the deluxe edition, that’s the toughest thing, is tryin’ to figure out what songs are gonna be on the main edition, what songs are gonna be on the deluxe edition, ‘cause they bring different things to the table and it’s not a matter of anything except where do you draw a dividing line, and this was really hard to do. Most the time I put a lot of songs on a record and if I had my way I probably would just do twenty songs on an album and not do any sort of deluxe or anything else. But, it’s just a matter of findin’ that slicing point in a record where you can put some songs that really bring something extra to the table that people that wanna buy it and have a little bit different sound than the rest of the album, and I that that’s what this does.”
