Tim McGraw will release his new album, Sundown Heaven Town, on September 16th, and when listening to songs to choose to record, Tim says he listened as a fan first. “First and foremost, above anything else, I’m a fan and I’m a music fan… When I hear a demo of a song, or when I hear a song on the radio, I listen to it as a fan.”
Tim’s love of music has been with him since he was a kid. He recalls, “As a kid listenin’ to albums, when I grew up it was vinyl, you’re listenin’ to vinyl and you knew every crease in that album cover, down to the trademark symbol, you knew everything on it. You would listen to that music over and over and over again and you would try to pick what the next singles were gonna be. It’s the same thing that I do with my records, or anybody else’s records. What’s your favorite stuff? A lot of times for me, a lot of my favorite things are not necessarily singles.”
Tim’s new album will feature his brand new single, “Shotgun Rider,” which is the follow up to his top five hit, “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s.”

Tim McGraw – how he listens to music :41
“First and foremost, above anything else, I’m a fan and I’m a music fan. I mean, I’m a fan of a lot of things but, music in particular. When I hear a demo of a song, or when I hear a song on the radio, I listen to it as a fan. As a kid listenin’ to albums, when I grew up it was vinyl, you’re listenin’ to vinyl and you knew every crease in that album cover, down to the trademark symbol, you knew everything on it.
