Tim McGraw will release his new album in May, and chances are if you asked him who all the writers were that contributed to the album he might not be able to tell you off the top of his head. It’s not that Tim doesn’t care about the writers, it’s that he tries not to focus on them when choosing songs. Tim says, “Unless your friends with them, I never really pay attention to who wrote a song, because I think you could be influenced by that when you hear a demo. And I’ll write too, but mine rarely make it onto the record because it’s all about the song to me. And it’s not about whether I wrote it or not. So I’d rarely look at who wrote a song because I don’t want to be influenced.”
For the record, Tim’s latest single, “Lookin’ for That Girl,” was written by James Slater, Chris Tompkins and Mark Irwin.

Tim McGraw – don’t look at writers :20
“I’m terrible with writers. For one reason, unless your friends with them, I never really pay attention to who wrote a song, because I think you could be influenced by that when you hear a demo. And I’ll write too, but mine rarely make it onto the record because it’s all about the song to me. And it’s not about whether I wrote it or not. So I’d rarely look at who wrote a song because I don’t want to be influenced.”
