Tim McGraw’s top ten hit, “I Called Mama,” wasn’t the first song he originally planned to release off his Here on Earth album, but when the pandemic hit and people started spending more time with family or reaching out to family members and friends in ways that they never had before, for comfort and reassurance, he knew “I Called Mama” was the best song he could release at that time. “I really do think that this song just really tells a story, and it tells a story that we can all wrap ourselves up in,” says Tim., “no matter what your station in life is and no matter if your mom’s still around or not, or if you’re married or if you have kids or if you have children who call you. It just really is one of those things that really wraps us up in a warm blanket, I think, and really makes us feel like we’re hearing a story about our lives.”
