Tim McGraw has been known to record some country sounding music as well as some progress of stuff but in the end Tim will always be a country singer no matter which way the songs lean because he says, “When I open my mouth, and when I sing, I’m a country singer. There’s really no way around it, and whether it’s progressive or whether it’s country, I know when I sing it it’s still gonna be me, and I’m still gonna be a country singer at the end of the day.”
Tim says he’s a fan of some of the progress stuff that other country artists are doing and he’s open to some of those sounds with his own music as well, but ultimately he will always be a country singer.
You can definitely hear Tim’s country sound on his new single, “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools.”

Tim McGraw – best as country singer :28
“You know, the thing about it is for me, and I’ve recorded a lot of just really good solid country songs throughout my career, but I’ve recorded some progressive stuff as well, and I like doin’ all of it, and I like a lot of music that other people are doin’. But, I think for me, what’s always been good for me and my career is when I open my mouth, and when I sing, I’m a country singer. There’s really no way around it, and whether it’s progressive or whether it’s country, I know when I sing it it’s still gonna be me, and I’m still gonna be a country singer at the end of the day.”
