It’s been almost 35 years since Tim McGraw has ever had to think about doing a job other than music to make a living.  Back then he had all kinds of jobs to make ends meet, which remind him that even the parts of his music career that some people might think would get old or annoying are blessings compared to what he used to do.

“I’ve had a lot of side jobs, a lot of construction work. I did the old calling bank thing. I did that quite a bit. Gosh, I worked at restaurants. I worked as a line cook during my time. I roofed a lot. Growing up in Louisiana I roofed a lot. When you’re having dinner or something and somebody comes up for an autograph, and they always say, ‘Well, I bet you’re tired of doing this,’ or ‘I bet you hate doing this’ or ‘This gets old.’ And I’m like look, it’s better than roofing. That’s usually my comeback.”
