CURRENT SINGLE: “7500 OBO”
Tim McGraw’s latest hit single, “7500 OBO” is about a guy who needs to sell his truck because it has too many memories in it. In real life, one car that holds a lot of memories for Tim is his first car – a Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was given to him by his grandparents. Tim says when he thinks about that car, “The first thing that flashes in my head is the headliner kept falling down in it, so I had gold thumbtacks, and I had ‘em all over the roof of the car just to hold the headliner up.”
Perhaps not his fondest memory, Tim says, “I got my first speeding ticket in that car as well.”
But ultimately, Tim can’t help but smile when he thinks of his first car. “That was a car that I really loved,” he says, “and my grandparents, who didn’t have much but they had that car, and they gave it to me. It meant a lot to them to give that to me and it meant a lot for me to have it,” says Tim.
