(AUDIO) TRENT HARMON CALLS THE RETURN OF AMERICAN IDOL A BEAUTIFUL THING

When American Idol went off the air in 2016, Trent Harmon was the final winner of the franchise.  Now that it’s back on ABC, Trent jokes, “I’m very glad that American Idol is coming back because what a wonderful platform to sing my new single, ‘You Got ‘Em All.’”

All jokes aside, Trent believes the timing of American Idol’s return in relation to how his career is progressing couldn’t be more perfect.  He says, “If I had had a record out last year, 2017, I wouldn’t have had a place like Idol, a huge platform, to go sing that song on. So now I’m back, now they’re back, so that’s a beautiful thing. That’s serendipitous if I’ve ever seen it, which is another good word for God. But I’m glad it’s back.”

Plus, Trent was kind of bummed that being the final winner of the series, he wouldn’t get to have any kind of homecoming to the show.  He says, “The only bad thing about being the final winner is there’s no time to go back and be, you know, the alumnus, be the cool guy on campus that there’s no pressure.  You just get to come back and do what you do, you don’t have to get voted off. Now I get to go do that.”

The new American Idol is back on Sunday and Monday nights on ABC and chances are, Trent will finally get that homecoming moment he was hoping for.

Trent Harmon – thoughts on return of American Idol  :41
“I’m very glad that American Idol is coming back because what a wonderful platform to sing my new single, ‘You Got ‘Em All.’ But on a serious note, if I had had a record out last year, 2017, I wouldn’t have had a place like Idol, a huge platform, to go sing that song on. So now I’m back, now they’re back, so that’s a beautiful thing. That’s serendipitous if I’ve ever seen it, which is another good word for God. But I’m glad it’s back.
