(AUDIO) TRENT HARMON KNOWS THE IMPORTANCE OF EXHIBITING GRACE UNDER PRESSURE

When you’re a performer, the chance that something can go wrong during your performance is always looming, and Trent Harmon has learned the best thing he can do is keep his cool and be kind to those who are helping him fix things.  Case in point, not long ago, Trent had a very important performance in front of a room full of radio decision makers, and just as he was about to sing his latest single, “You Got ‘Em All,” which he sings with a piano, no sound would come out of the keyboard.  Trent remained calm, cool and collected while he waited for the piano to be fixed and he says, “You got to be careful in those moments because as the artist you only have one job and that is to sing and to connect people to those songs.”

Trent could have made a joke or poked fun at the situation, but he says, “You gotta be careful when you say things from the stage because not everybody has the same sense of humor. And I’ve been guilty of it. You say a joke, and I’m very dry, which in another place might be hilarious.”

Ultimately, Trent knew getting anxious or impatient with the people working to fix the problem wouldn’t have helped the situation.  He says, “I’ve also been on stage with some really crappy sound and some bad sound techs. But even when you thank them even if they’re doing a terrible job, just say thank you. Drake White said, ‘As long as you’re gracious, people can never get upset with you.’”

Besides being blown away by Trent’s performance that day, a lot of people walked away with a lot of respect for Trent for his grace under pressure.
