Trent Harmon has dreamed of a career in music for years, but he admits he wasn’t completely ready for the grueling demands of the schedule. He says, “I don’t think that anybody that says they knew exactly what they were getting into coming into a music career, because the main common misconception, and I’ll just tell you because I was in that circle, is to make it in the musician world: you stay up late and also sleep late all day. And by some means of magic you become a well-known musician.”
Trent says he quickly learned after Idol that that’s not the case at all. “You get up early and you still stay up late, but then you still get up early. And so even though I didn’t really know that.” But he’s so thankful for the schedule they kept him on while he was filming American Idol because he says, “5 AM call times for six months will get anybody ready for anything. It’s tough, but I’m hanging tough.”
Trent has been hanging tough all over the country as he visits radio stations and introduces them to his music, including his debut single, “There’s A Girl.”
Trent Harmon – expect demands of career :42
“I don’t think that anybody that says they knew exactly what they were getting into coming into a music career, because the main common misconception, and I’ll just tell you because I was in that circle, is to make it in the musician world: you stay up late and also sleep late all day. And by some means of magic you become a well-known musician. That’s not true. You get up early and you still stay up late, but then you still get up early. And so even though I didn’t really know that, I’ve gotta credit Idol for preparing me just indirectly for this kind of schedule. You know, 5 AM call times for six months will get anybody ready for anything. It’s tough, but I’m hanging tough.”
