CURRENT SINGLE – “Better Than You’re Used To”
Before Tyler Rich had a record deal, he spent a lot of time and energy trying to build his fan base and get his name out there by connecting with people on social media. Even now, Tyler still uses social media a lot to connect with new and old fans and to share what’s happening in his career. Part of that interaction involves reading comments from people, which means, inevitably, he runs into haters, who, fortunately, don’t bother him too much. “I delete a lot of ‘em, if it’s just something that’s just pure crap talking,” Tyler says. “If there is some talking that has weight, I will try to kill ‘em with kindness because a lot of times it has worked. And I don’t mean worked as in like, oh cool, now they’re a fan. But it’s at least like helped that person understand that maybe they shouldn’t talk to people like that.”
The good far outweighs the bad when it comes to comments to Tyler on social media, but he also believes and has experienced that some people who say hateful things to him online or who try to bring him down may be lashing out for reasons that have nothing to do with him or his music. “I just always try to think maybe that person’s goin’ through somethin’ really hard right now. And so rather than getting mad, I just try to kill people with kindness and try to figure out if there’s a reason why people are upset to talk crap to strangers on the Internet.”
Tyler has Tik Tok to thank for the early success of his latest song, “Better Than You’re Used To.” He posted the song, it went viral and fan demand turned it into his latest single on the radio.
Tyler Rich – how deal with haters :35
“I delete a lot of ‘em, if it’s just something that’s just pure crap talking. If there is some talking that has weight, I will try to kill ‘em with kindness because a lot of times it has worked. And I don’t mean worked as in like, oh cool, now they’re a fan. But it’s at least like helped that person understand that maybe they shouldn’t talk to people like that. There’s so many crap talkers all the time but it far is outweighed by fans and positivity and love. I don’t know. I just always try to think maybe that person’s goin’ through somethin’ really hard right now. And so rather than getting mad, I just try to kill people with kindness and try to figure out if there’s a reason why people are upset to talk crap to strangers on the Internet.”
