CURRENT SINGLE – “Better Than You’re Used To”
When Tyler Rich first started writing songs, his writing was sometimes clever or upbeat for the sake of being upbeat, but that all changed thanks to one of his favorite bands. “I remember right when I was out of high school,” recalls Tyler, “there’s a band called Augustana, and Dan, the singer, is one of my favorite songwriters of all time. And they were playing in San Francisco, which is pretty close to where I grew up. And we went and saw them at this small theater.”
Tyler remembers the feeling of being part of the audience that night, and he says, “(We) just watched him with his piano sing these songs and just captivate an entire crowd for so long. And that was my milestone of being like, ‘I need to write real music, not just energetic music.’”
That mindset is what led to Tyler writing songs like his current single, “Better Than You’re Used To,” which he was inspired to write after a conversation with his sister, who was sharing her relationship woes.
