CURRENT SINGLE – “Better Than You’re Used To”
Very early on in his career, a music writer described Tyler Rich’s brand of country music as “a sunny, experimental mixture of Sam Hunt and Jake Owen,” which seemed kind of funny, so we asked Tyler if he could tell people who may just be discovering his music, how he would describe his sound, and where he fits on the very wide sound of country music these days. “Definitely on the pop spectrum of it for sure,” Tyler says. “There’s a lot of R&B influence, I mean, I grew up loving Motown.”
Something else Tyler takes pride in about his music and his songwriting are the interesting melodies. He says, “We try to keep every song as interesting as possible – just a new experience of country is what we’re goin’ for. So, hopefully when you listen to the album you feel like this is new, this is fresh, this is Tyler Rich, not this is Jake Owen meets Sam Hunt. Whatever that is.”
That comparison definitely doesn’t fit Tyler’s sound today, so he laughs and says it must be something “based off, apparently, one of my old songs I released a few years ago. So, with the new stuff will see what people think I sound like.”
