Lady A’s latest single is “What A Song Can Do,” and one of the things a song can do for them is hype them up before they take the stage.  When it comes to pre-show music, Charles Kelley says, “Dave and I always listen to like, some rock music. I know Hillary, you can hear the R&B comin’ out the whole time in her dressing room while she’s gettin’ ready. And Dave and I get into like, there’s a band called The Band Camino which fires us up a lot.”

Charles gives Hillary credit for helping him keep up with new artist and what’s popular in the R&B world. “She’s much more up on whoever the new R&B artists are. Every time I go (into her dressing room) to get some hairspray or something, I’m like, ‘Who’s that you’re listening to? So, I feel like I learn a lot about what’s happening in the world of music from Hillary.”

No doubt when Charles’ six-year-old son Ward gets about nine or ten years older, he’ll be turning his dad on to all kinds of new music.

Hillary Scott – “I like them too.”

“Well, I’m not saying you don’t like ‘em.  But yeah, Hillary‘s always … she’s much more up on whoever the new R&B artists are. Every time I go in there to get some hairspray or something, I’m like, ‘Who’s that you’re listening to?
