(AUDIO) WITH A LITTLE TEQUILA, MIDLAND IS CONFIDENT THEY COULD LEARN THE ‘MR. LONELY’ LINE DANCE

For their latest single, Mr. Lonely, Midland not only created a music video, but there’s an entire line dance that was invented to go along with the song.  Bassist Cameron Duddy, who also co-directed the video with his brother Collin, explains,  “That was dreamed up in the process of the video, but it was only supposed to be featured for a quick minute and it was going to be thrown together on set. We were just gonna show four dancers boot-scootin-boogien, like just do that. It was supposed to be an aside, and Sandi at our label, Scott’s wife, was like, ‘No, we gotta go hard into this,’ cause she’s a dancer.”

The next thing Midland knew, there was a choreographer involved and women being trained to do that dance.  “You could do a documentary on just that part of the music video,” says Cameron, “because it was its own thing.”

The band hasn’t learned the dance yet, but lead singer Mark Wystrach says, “We could learn it … We’re actually all good dancers. We all like to go two-steppin’ and we can all dance. If you get enough tequila in us, we can pretty much do damn anything.”

So, she hired this crazy guy who went way deep in it and you could do a documentary on just that part of the music video because it was its own thing.  We could figure it out.”
