CURRENT SINGLE: “Lil Bit”
Florida Georgia Line is back on the charts with their buddy Nelly, with the song “Lil Bit,” which Tyler Hubbard co-wrote with Nelly, plus Jordan Schmidt and Redferrin who are both songwriters for FGL’s publishing company, Tree Vibez Music. Tyler says getting in the room with Nelly the day they wrote the song was “awesome.” “We all grew up listenin’ to Nelly and lovin’ Nelly, so gettin’ the opportunity to work with him and write with him was just incredible.”
FGL and Nelly teamed up the first time on a remix of their monster debut single, “Cruise,” back in 2013, which went on to sell over 10 million copies and be certified Diamond by the RIAA. But when Tyler and Nelly came together to write this new song, there wasn’t really a discussion in the beginning about who would record it. “Ultimately I don’t think we were writing specifically for anybody or anything,” says Tyler. “I’m sure we were all thinkin’, let’s just write a hit. And yeah, I think we had hoped that this would turn out into something that Nelly would cut. And then it turned into something that he wanted us to stay on, and it turned into something even bigger and even more fun.”
The song was first released to pop radio, and just recently became FGL’s latest single on country radio, and Tyler says, “What a cool opportunity, and how humbling to have Nelly ask us to do another song together. We’ve got quite the history together, so it just worked out and it was awesome.”
