One of Zac Brown’s greatest passions in life is Camp Southern Ground, a year-round camp he has opened for kids of all abilities. While the camp is open year-round, there is a nine week period in the summer where Zac says, “We’ll be able to lodge 300 kids in every week, and feed ‘em and teach ‘em things that matter. Farm to table, teach ‘em about nutrition, teach ‘em about music, and how to get along and how to go through obstacles, and kinda celebrating our difference.”
The camp is an integration camp, which means they invite kids from all backgrounds, all economic levels and all physical and mental ability levels.
A lot of what Zac Brown Band does benefits Camp Southern Ground and the continued building and growth of the camp. This summer Zac Brown Band is on the Black Out the Sun Tour, promoting their latest single, “Castaway,” which is a perfect summer anthem.

Zac Brown Band – teaching kids at camp :24
“It’ll be open year-round, but nine weeks of summer, you know, we’ll be able to lodge 300 kids in every week, and feed ‘em and teach ‘em things that matter, farm to table. Teach ‘em about nutrition, teach ‘em about music, and how to get along and how to go through obstacles, and kinda celebrating our difference. ‘Cause it’s an integration camp, so typical kids mixed in with kids that have developmental disorders and special needs, and intercity kids, kids that have never even been out in the woods before.”
