(AUDIO) Zac Brown Is Fulfilling A Life-Long Calling With Camp Southern Ground

Zac Brown has spent the last several years raising money and making plans for Camp Southern Ground, a place where children of all abilities can experience the magic of the outdoors. Getting the camp up and running has been a life-long dream of Zac’s. He says, “That’s been my calling since I was fourteen. I was a camper and a counselor and a staff person at camp and I’m a product of that environment and it’s really helped to enrich my life and helped to open my eyes to things as a young person that mattered.”

While working to get Camp Southern Ground up and running, with the help of a lot of incredible people, is like a second full-time job, Zac says, “There’s nothin’ more fulfilling than gettin’ to help other people, especially kids and so, getting them to open up and exposing them to things that matter and teachin’ them about nutrition and about music and about things that matter.”

Part of the funding for Camp Southern Ground comes from the profits Zac Brown Band makes from the sale of their music, like their latest album, Jekyll + Hyde, featuring their brand new single, “Castaway,” and Zac says, “When our music is supported it helps to support the kids as well and it’s great that we have an outlet to give back and I think that’s one of the reasons why I think we’ve been so blessed.”

Zac Brown Band – Camp Southern Ground :35
Zac Brown – “That’s been my calling since I was fourteen. I was a camper and a counselor and a staff person at camp and I’m a product of that environment and it’s really helped to enrich my life and helped to open my eyes to things as a young person that mattered. And so now we have the campus and everything comin’ up out of the ground. It’s a lot of hard work and there’s nothin’ more fulfilling than gettin’ to help other people, especially kids and so, getting them to open up and exposing them to things that matter and teachin’ them about nutrition and about music and about things that matter. So, when our music is supported it helps to support the kids as well and it’s great that we have an outlet to give back and I think that’s one of the reasons why I think we’ve been so blessed.”
