Martina McBride’s music has definitely served as the soundtrack to a lot of people’s lives, and when it comes to her own life and marriage, she and her husband John share a lot of musical moments. Martina says, “Probably for the past year, we have listened to Van Morrison “Moondance” on vinyl, probably at least three or four times a week all the way through. It’s just always on in our house. And well, the Beatles, obviously.”
The Beatles’ music was actually something John introduced Martina to while they were dating. Martina says, “That was a huge discovery and a thing to share with me. You know, when you start dating somebody and you’re like, ‘what music do you like?’ and they play you songs. So that was a huge one was the Beatles. I’ve always loved Creedence Clearwater Revival and Ricky Lee, we’d play that record over and over and over again when we first started dating. And Peter Gabriel, so that was a big record at the time in 1987.”
Martina’s latest single, “Just Around the Corner” has definitely become an anthem for a lot of people who are facing hard times, and especially cancer. Her song is the theme song for Band Against Cancer, the Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute of HCA’s initiative to help those facing blood cancer. You can learn more at BandAgainstCancer.com.
