Ronnie Dunn’s new single, “Damn Drunk,” features background vocals by his old singing partner Kix Brooks, but Ronnie says people shouldn’t get any ideas. He says, “Well obviously I guess everyone is going to think now that we have a Ronnie Dunn single featuring Kix Brooks, that there’s an imminent Brooks and Dunn reunion coming. Not the case. We are very comfortable with what we’re doing at Caesar’s right now.”
Ronnie says for now they’re enjoying their part-time gig at Caesar’s, which in some ways, is the gig they worked their whole careers to get. He says, “We kid amongst ourselves and say that for 20 years, we rode around on buses up and down the highways, and you know, drug a crew of almost 40-50 guys around just to get to a gig like Caesar’s. We’re really happy with where we are. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to have a record deal with Big Machine and be doing what we’re doing right now. Kix is doing great with his radio show. He enjoys doing the recording process too. So we’re in a good place.”
So for now it’s just Ronnie Dunn with Kix Brooks on backing vocals. As for the future, Ronnie says, “I’ve learned one thing: never to commit to absolutes. As I just said never.”
